About Me

Hi! It is great to have you here.

My name is Vidya Sury and you can reach me via email at vidzword at gmail dot com

I enjoy making lists and thought I'd talk about myself through one, so here we go!
  • At the time of writing this, December 2011, I am 48 years young. Age is just a number - it is how you feel that counts
  • I currently work as a Freelance Writer and Professional Blogger for my bread, butter, jam and flavored cheese. I work from home.
  • I also work with CLINICOM an independent ethics committee that evaluates protocols for human clinical trials. A woman needs two jobs, right?
  • I have an MBA in Human Resources and Marketing and a Diploma in Training and Development. Strangely, I graduated with a B.Sc. in Zoology, Chemistry and Botany. Truly, variety is the spice of life
  • I have one son who is 14 years old, one husband who is a mathematician and one life. I am not a cat. Cats are believed to have nine lives.
  • I am non-judgmental and never quick to jump to conclusions. I am Libra after all, and a very nice one, I am told. No, my knees are not dimpled. They only get dented when I rest my elbows on them.
  • My Mom was a single parent but seemed like an entire family rolled into one. She's my hero and my best friend.
  • I love to read, write and sing. Not sure if I'll win prizes with the singing - oh wait! I did win prizes for singing when I was in school!
  • My all-time favorite authors are P G Wodehouse, Rohinton Mistry, James Patterson, David Baldacci - and all crime/medical/law/psychological thrillers.
  • On Television I prefer to watch comedy or crime.
  • I successfully participated in NaNoWriMo 2011 and validated at 104058 words. My non-fiction book's working title is "The Complete Health Guide for Women" and I hope to edit, fine tune and publish it in 2012.
  • I am from South India and my mother tongue is Tamil. I also speak English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, some Malayalam, a little Marathi, French and Spanish. I love to learn languages and seems like I have an aptitude for them.
  • I enjoy photography, sketching and DIY projects. When I am fascinated with something, I feel like trying to make it right away, and I am rather good with handicrafts and creating "wealth out of waste". Yes, I mean recycling, because I grew up in a thrifty family that was very generous.
  • I cannot bear to see children and the elderly being ill-treated or going hungry and I try to do my bit by supporting some local charities and sponsoring education every year for some kids. This is one of the reasons I work hard. Money is multi-lingual, you see.
  • I am addicted to information and I've tried to turn that into a useful resource for everyone by creating my e-library. Check it out. Bookmark it, even. Better still, if you have a resource to share, let me know via comments or email me at vidzword at gmail dot com
  • Blogging, to me, is freedom of expression. I enjoy sharing  smiles, how-to's, health tips, inspiring stories, experiences and useful information about everything under the sun, moon and stars.
  • I believe that we continue to learn as long as we live. I am a work in progress, just like everyone else.
  • I would be thrilled to connect with you!
  • Besides Going A-Musing, I actively write four other blogs:
Your Medical Guide - a knowledgebase - for better Mental, Physical and Emotional Health and Fitness. My aim is to create a complete resource for a healthy life with health news, health tips, articles and information related to diseases symptoms and treatments, drugs and medicine.
Coffee With Mi! - a personal blog, a tribute to my Mom. I miss her.
I love Infographics - a blog where I post Infographics.
It's a blog's life - A guide for bloggers, a compilation of useful articles from across the web that can help bloggers
